National Policy

Summary of Change.

Volume 3, Chapter 18, Section 5, OpSpec C091, Operational Requirements Airplane Design Group VI (ICAO Group F) (Optional); and

Volume 12, Chapter 2, Section 5, OpSpec C091, Operational Requirements Airplane Design Group VI (ICAO Group F) (Optional).

Explanation of Policy Changes. This is a mandatory change affecting principal inspectors (PI) with responsibility for the issuance, amendment, and oversight of OpSpecs for part 121 and 129. Part 121, OpSpecs C091 will need to be issued to any part 121 operator who wish to operate the A 380 or B-747-8 (ADG VI aircraft) on runways as narrow as 150 ft. (45 meters) wide. Part 129, OpSpec C091, if previously issued C091 needs to be reissued. If the foreign air carrier is currently authorized to operate the B-747-8 aircraft in the U.S. via the nonmandatory text in OpSpec A003 then the nonmandatory text in OpSpec A003 referencing B747-8 needs to be deleted and OpSpec C091 issued. This action must be accomplished within 120 days of the effective date of N 8900.257, OpSpec C091 for Parts 121 and 129.
