TASK DESCRIPTION:

Conduct a flight engineer proficiency check.

 

SUBTASK 1:

 

Receive a request from the Certificate Holder.

Objective / Skill:

Performance: 

Review prerequisites for proficiency check.

Conditions:

Using the Certificate Holder’s training program.

Standards:

IAW Certificate Holder’s approved training program.

Knowledge:

·        Understand the Guidance and Policy contained in FAA Order 8900.1, Vol. 3, Chap. 19, Sec. 7.

·        Understand the Certificate Holder’s training program.

·        Understand the Regulatory Requirements contained in 14 CFR    Parts 121.425 and 121.453.

 

SUBTASK 2:

 

Evaluate the flight engineer’s proficiency.

 

Objective / Skill:

Performance: 

Conduct an oral examination and observe the flight engineer’s actions while conducting a proficiency flight check.

Conditions:

Aircraft or simulator.

Standards:

IAW Certificate Holder’s approved training program.

Knowledge:

·        Understand the Certificate Holder’s approved training program.

·        Understand the Certificate Holder’s procedures.

·        Be familiar with any special regulatory requirements affecting the operator, such as special conditions contained in the operating specifications and exemptions.

·        Understand the Certificate Holder’s and FAA’s Guidance and Policy regarding flight engineer proficiency checks.

 

SUBTASK 3:

 

Document the results of the evaluation.

Objective / Skill:

Performance: 

Report results of the evaluation to the Principal Operations Inspector (POI).

Conditions:

Certificate Holder’s approved records.
