5.5: Special Instrument Flight Procedures

Task 5.5.1: Receive Request for SP-IFP and Serve as the Single Point of Contact as Third Party Procedures Developer or FAA Procedures Office Assesses Feasibility.

Purpose

The purpose of this task is to assess if the requested procedure can be designed and implemented in a safe operating environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Task

    Knowledge of NAS operational requirements

    Knowledge of FAA certification rules, policies, and operational system requirements

    Skill in applying system safety principles

    Ability to link local issues with the broader regional, national, and international concerns

    Knowledge of instrument procedures design criteria and publication process

    Knowledge of airport/heliport development

    Knowledge of NOTAM system.

Task Standard

Serve as single point of contact for a comprehensive feasibility assessment that addresses all operational safety concerns and is fully coordinated within the FAA.
