Description

Evaluation, authorization, or remediation of an instrument procedure and associated infrastructure in a foreign country

The purpose of this process is to provide operational system safety oversight and analysis by reviewing requests for the use of category II/III and RNP AR instrument procedures and associated infrastructure by U.S. operators in foreign countries in accordance with FAA Orders and 8260.31. The AWO may also provide coordination for remediation of non-precision or category I instrument procedures as requested by POIs or operators.

Tasks

The AWO in the FAA region that has geographic responsibility for the country or region will perform these tasks.

6.1. Review operator request for use of a category II/III or RNP AR FTIP or investigate a user concern regarding a category I or non-precision FTIP to include data from foreign civil aviation authorities (CAA).

6.2. Evaluate data and obtain Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) to determine if the procedures and infrastructure are equivalent to appropriate standards.

6.3. AWO produces a letter of recommendation for approval/disapproval and forwards to AFS-400.

Task 5.6.1: Review Operator Request for Use of a Category II/III or RNP AR FTIP or Investigate a User Concern Regarding a Category I or Non-Precision FTIP to Include Data from Foreign Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA).

Purpose

The purpose of this task is to review the request to use a category II/III or RNP AR FTIP or coordinate remediation of a user concern on a non-precision or category I FTIP. The review is used to determine scope of the operation.

PI forwards request with supporting documentation to controlling Region NextGen Branch or a user concern is received.

A completed review and AWO letter of recommendation to AFS‑400
