5.9: Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP) Waivers

Task 5.9.2: Concur or Nonconcur, During the PRB Process, that the Waiver and the Special Provisions (If Required) Provide an Equivalent Level of Safety.

Purpose

The purpose of this task is to evaluate the waiver and determine whether or not the waiver and special provisions provide an equivalent level of safety.

                Knowledge of NAS operational requirements

                Knowledge of FAA certification rules, policies, and operational system requirements

                Knowledge of instrument procedures design criteria

                Skill in applying system safety principles

                Ability to link local issues with the broader regional, national, and international concerns

Task Standard

Ensuring a waiver maintains an equivalent level of safety when deviating from standards and criteria.
