Job Task Performance Steps and Knowledge:
1 Initiate ramp inspection.
1.1. Ensure familiarity with type of aircraft to be inspected.
1.2. Open Program Tracking and Reporting Subsystem (PTRS) record.

2 Prepare for ramp inspection; review current airworthiness requirements, revisions, reports and bulletins, as applicable to aircraft.
2.1. Initiation and planning.
2.2. Maintenance records.
3 Coordinate inspection with flightcrew; state purpose of inspection.
3.1. Crewmember inspection area.
4 Inspect aircraft maintenance records and minimum equipment list (MEL)-deferred maintenance entries; note any maintenance trends.
4.1. Deferred maintenance.
4.2. Inspect the aircraft maintenance records.
5 Inspect aircraft documents.
6 Inspect aircraftís interior condition.
6.1. Aircraft inspection area.
6.2. References, forms, and job aids.
7 Inspect aircraftís exterior condition.
7.1. Job aid.
8 Inform flightcrew of discrepancies; discuss with operator, as required.
8.1. Examine maintenance record entries of noted discrepancies.
8.2. Monitor/evaluate operatorís corrective actions, if time permits.
9 Analyze results of inspection.
9.1. Identify improper maintenance and/or inadequate maintenance/inspection procedures.
9.2. Coordinate findings with responsible Flight Standards office.
10 Document task.
10.1. File all supporting paperwork in operatorís office file.
10.2. Close PTRS record.
